Daniel Sender (Violin) is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Maryland. A pupil of David Salness, Daniel has performed as a chamber musician, recitalist and orchestral violinist throughout Europe, China, the United States and the Middle East. Daniel is a native of Philadelphia and holds a bachelors degree in music performance and education from Ithaca College as well as a Master of Music degree from the University of Maryland.
In 2003, Daniel pursued studies in Vienna, Austria. He studied there with Rene Staar of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Barbara Gorzynska, former winner of the Carl Flesch competition. While in Vienna, Daniel won the annual chamber music competition sponsored by IES which awarded him the opportunity to peform in a recital in Milan, Italy.
Named a Presser Scholar by the Theodore Presser Foundation, Daniel was also the recipient of the Anna Sosenko Artist Assist Trust Grant which facilitated his participation in the Adriatic Chamber Music Festival in Bonefro, Italy.
Daniel is the most recent addition to the Annapolis Chamber Players. Joining ACP in late 2006, Daniel is looking forward to a long a fruitful collaboration with his ACP colleagues.
Daniel has been coached by members of the Guarneri, American, Cypress and Ariadne String Quartets and participated in masterclasses with Ani Kavafian, Arnold Steinhardt, Linda Case and Daniel Heifetz. Other previous teachers include Dr. Gerald Fischbach, Dr. Rebecca Ansel, Louis Lanza and Margaret Cooper. Daniel plays on a Tetsuo Matsuda violin made in 2002.
