Recently a patron asked me what our specialty was? Baroque music? Classical era? Modern works? It hit me that perhaps we aren't clear about what makes the Annapolis Chamber Players unique.
Many chamber music groups focus on just one genre, e.g., string quartet, piano trio, or brass quintet. Instead of sticking to one set instrumental genre the Annapolis Chamber Players specialize in mixed chamber music.
We enjoy a diverse pallet of instrumental colors, sounds, and styles, We do this by playing music from the Baroque to the 21st century and interchange winds, strings, and keyboard instruments. We play chamber music "favorites" complimented by lesser-known gems of the repertoire for two to eight players. This approach gives us centuries of exceptional music to perform and share with you, our listeners.
Formed in 2004, the Annapolis Chamber Players grew out of collaborative ventures dating back to the 1990s. In 2006, we received our not-for-profit status, which led to expanded programs. In addition to our Classics & Gems series we perform at other venues in Maryland and beyond.
We are devoted fostering an appreciation of mixed chamber music for all ages. To this end we perform at senior centers and remote locations and offer young musicians opportunities to flourish.
We appreciate the support of our patrons, friends, and the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County.
