Phyllis Crossen-Richardson

Phyllis Crossen-Richardson (Artistic Director & Clarinet) has performed extensively as chamber musician and recitalist. While living in Philadelphia, she regularly performed with The Tyler Chamber Players and Trilogy. Locally, she has played in Crosswinds and the Annapolis Wind Symphony, among others. As ACP Artistic Director, she works with the other performers to craft unique and appealing programs of famous and not so famous works for mixed chamber ensembles. She also is committed to music education, in particular, providing chamber music opportunities for young
musicians. She is the Director of ACP's Chesapeake Chamber Music Connection  and the University of Maryland's ClarinetConnection. She has taught clarinet privately and coached chamber music ensembles at the University of Maryland and South River High School. Phyllis received her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the University of Maryland, and her Bachelor of Music degree from The Peabody Conservatory of
Music. She studied clarinet with Loren Kitt, Ignatius Gennusa, Anthony Gigliotti, and Robert Marcellus. She has done extensive research and archival work for the International Clarinet Association Research Center, written liner notes for music CDs, and published articles in The Clarinet and Clarinet & Saxophone.
