| Afternoon Concert 4:00 PM Classics & Gems Series - Lyrical Lines
It doesn’t matter which musical period or country of origin; beautiful melodies bring pleasure to the soul. Johann Sebastian Bach’s exquisite German melodies in the Trio Sonata in G major, BWV 1038 for Flute, Violin, and Continuo are contrasted by Carl Fruehling’s lush Viennese Trio for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano; Cesar Cui’s, light and lyrical Russian Five Pieces, Op. 56 for Flute, Violin, and Piano, and complimented by American John Williams’ Air on Simple Gifts, for Clarinet, Violin, Cello and Piano. Premiered at President Obama’s January 2009 inauguration, the Air features variations on the well-known and beloved Shaker hymn. $20 Adults; $10 Seniors STUDENTS (8-25 with ID) FREE
