7th annual Classics & Gems concert. Composers draw inspiration from many sources. Maybe it is love, art, nature, or even mathematical equations. The options are endless. “Stage and Screen” features three piano trios that are inspired by different forms of theater. We are excited to finally perform Franz Schubert’s popular, glorious and seldom heard Octet in F, Op. 166 for clarinet, French horn, bassoon, 2 violins, viola, cello and contrabass in an intimate and historic setting for which it was intended. Written in 1824, the Octet was commissioned by Ferdinand, Count Troyer, a clarinetist who was musical friends with Archduke Rudoph of Austria.
